DAY 1- WASHINGTON D.C.
We depart our
mid-day international flight from Washington D.C. non-stop to Addis Ababa,
Ethiopia. Dinner and breakfast are served.
DAY 2- TO ENTEBBE, UGANDA
Arrive early
morning into Addis Ababa for a short layover before continuing on Ethiopian
Airlines, arriving Entebbe mid-day., a small town, located on the edge of Lake
Victoria. Meet/Greet at the airport with transfer to your hotel in Entebbe.
Balance of the afternoon and evening is at your leisure at the Boma Hotel (or
similar).
DAY 3- TO LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK
This
morning drive to Lake Mburo National Park and check into Lake Mburo Tented
Camp(or similar) in time for lunch. Your accommodations are atop a hill with
fantastic views all around. There are nine spacious tents with an en-suite bush
shower and toilet. Lake Mburo is composed primarily of grassland, wetland, and
acacia woodland habitats. At the centre of the park lies Lake Mburo, this
together with 14 other lakes in the area forms part of an extensive wetland
system. The park has topi, eland, kilpspringer, zebra, buffalo, oribi, sitatunga
and leopard. There is an excellent variety of water and acacia savannah bird
species, like crested crane, marabou stork and bronze-tailed starling. This
afternoon enjoy either a walking trek or go on a game drive. This evening gather
at a central dining and lounge for dinner.(B, L, D)
DAY 4- TO BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST
Enjoy
a beautiful drive as you rise from the plains upward into the mountainous
regions with fantastic vistas arriving at your home for two nights at the Buhoma
Lodge (or similar) in time for lunch. Located in south-west Uganda, this is the
richest forest in Uganda, a magnificent verdant swathe across the steep ridges
of the Albertine Rift Valley. This is one of the few in Africa to have
flourished throughout the last Ice Age and is home to roughly half of the
world's mountain gorillas. Buhoma Lodge is adjacent to the National Park and
offers uninterrupted views toward the pristine rain forest canopy from your
bedroom private verandah. After lunch you can select a variety of activities
such a guided forest walk or a village walking tour of Bwindi. In addition, you
may wish to visit a local children orphanage. Please note, guests often donate
clothes/school books to the children. Then as tradition dictates the children
perform a special dance of thanks to your kind contribution. After your
activities enjoy the hospitality of the Lodge and enjoy a complimentary massage

DAY 5- BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST (GORILLA
TREK)
After breakfast you will be escorted to the National Parks
headquarters to meet your guides for your gorilla trekking experience.
Experienced trackers will bring you amongst a family of Mountain Gorillas. These
massive primates are extremely rare, approximately 650-700 remain. You will get
within a few feet of the family, and be privileged to spend time amongst them.
The trekking may be fairly strenuous; up to six hours or longer is not
uncommon-at relatively high altitude. Time permitting return to the lodge for
lunch, followed with an opportunity for forest walks, relax at the hotel or
visit a local orphanage.(B, L, D)
DAY 6- TO QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL
PARK
This morning enjoy a scenic drive to the western arm of the
Great East Rift Valley arriving at Mweya Lodge (or similar). This is one of the
most fantastic parks in Uganda. During your stay in QENP, you may be able to
enjoy chimpanzee tracking in Kyambura Gorge where you should be able to locate a
family of Chimpanzees, as they move through the forest. The scenery in the
gorge is breathtaking and there are many mammals and birds to be sighted. The

DAY 7- QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
Enjoy
a morning safari game drive into the National Park, which is home to a variety
of wildlife including elephant, lion, hippo, Uganda kob and baboon. One
afternoon, during your stay in QENP, you will also be able to enjoy an afternoon
boat cruise, enjoying the resident wildlife and birds on the famous Kazinga
Channel. Buffaloes, Elephants, Antelopes, Crocodiles, Pelicans, Fish
Eagle, a feast for your eyes and camera.(B, L, D)
DAY 8- TO ENTEBBE
This morning return to
Entebbe via the capital city of Kampala. Enjoy a Uganda buffet lunch and then
visit one of the two biggest markets in Kampala - Owino or Nakasero Markets.
Continue south to the shore of Lake Victoria and check into The Boma Hotel (or
similar).(B, L)
DAY 9- NGAMBA ISLAND and RETURN TO
USA
This morning enjoy a cruise on Lake Victoria to Ngamba Island.
You will visit a chimpanzee sanctuary, home to over 40 orphaned chimpanzees.
This worthy cause also supports the endangered wild chimpanzees throughout
Uganda. You will be able to take time to learn about the plight of the wild
chimpanzees in the Visitors Centre on the island, as well as watching the
orphaned chimps as they come in from the forest for their feeding. Return back
to Entebbe and proceed to the airport for your mid-afternoon flight back to
Washington D.C. via Addis Ababa.(B)
DAY 10- WASHINGTON D.C.
Early morning
arrival into Washington D.C. (Dulles Airport).
